چکیده
We present the first experimental demonstration of an asynchronous digital optical regenerator at 42.67 Gbit/s. The system effectively retimes incoming asynchronous data bursts to a local clock without burst mode clock recovery and converts the signal to a desired wavelength and duty cycle. ©2008 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (060.2330) Fiber optics communications; (060.4510) Optical communications References and Links 1. Asynchronous Digital Optical Regenerator for 4 x 40 Gbit/s WDM to 160 Gbit/s OTDM Conversion.
We propose and numerically analyse an asynchronous digital optical regenerator using a single-EAM loop and a novel neighbor-combine approach. It effectively re-synchronizes input signals with arbitrary phases to the local clock, and regenerates signals with high amplitude fluctuation and polarization mode dispersion. We demonstrate the application of this regenerator for 4x40 Gbit/s WDM to 160 ...
متن کاملNumerical study of an optical regenerator exploiting self-phase modulation and spectral offset filtering at 40 Gbit/s
In this work, we numerically investigate the performances of optical regenerators based on self-phase modulation and spectral offset filtering at 40 Gbit/s. We outline the different effects affecting the device performances and explain the choice of the optimal working power. The impact of the regenerator on the output signal is also analysed through a statistical approach. Both single and doub...

The demonstration was conducted by Siemens' Information and Communication Networks Group at the company's Advanced Optica...
متن کاملLarge-capacity optical path cross-connect system for WDM photonic transport network
This paper demonstrates our recently developed large-capacity optical path cross-connect (OPXC) system. The major hurdles to be cleared are 1) establishment of a highly modular architecture that facilitates hardware design and upgrading and 2) development of an OPXC demonstrator designed to achieve 320-Gbit/s throughput capacity. Due to the use of planar lightwave circuit technologies, compact ...
متن کاملAll-optical pulse regeneration in an ultrafast nonlinear interferometer with Faraday mirror polarization stabilization.
We demonstrate the folded ultrafast nonlinear interferometer (FUNI) as a 3R all-optical regenerator. Faraday rotation provides inherent polarization stabilization, and the optical fiber nonlinear medium provides ultrafast operation and switching window tunability. We demonstrate 3R regeneration of 10-Gbit/s data with 5-pJ pulse switching energy and 4-ps timing-jitter tolerance.
